Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance: The Official Report and a Correction

Is Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Missing? Full Timeline & Latest Updates

Correction, October 29, 2026: an earlier version of this article incorrectly said there was no official report that Nancy Guthrie was missing. That was wrong. The FBI identifies an active disappearance investigation with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the FBI’s official information request, her family reported her missing on February 1, 2026. The FBI case page identifies January 31 as the evening she was last seen at her Tucson-area residence.

The verified timeline

January 31 and February 1 describe different milestones: last seen and reported missing. They should not be treated as conflicting dates or collapsed into a claim that the story began as an internet rumour.

On February 5, the FBI issued a public reward announcement, naming the agencies investigating. That announcement alone contradicts the earlier assertion that no police statement existed.

Use the current official appeal

As checked for this correction, the FBI case page continues to seek information. It includes images and footage connected with the investigation. Any description of an individual in that material should remain the FBI’s description; an online resemblance is not an identification or proof of involvement.

This article does not identify a perpetrator, verify alleged ransom messages or claim a resolution that the official record does not establish.

How to help responsibly

People with relevant information should use the reporting channels on the official FBI page. Do not publish private addresses, accuse relatives or circulate an unverified identification as a confirmed lead.

Our social-media decision guide explains why repeated posts are not independent evidence. The necessary correction here is clear: the disappearance is an officially documented investigation, not merely a search-driven rumour. The earlier unsupported reassurance has been withdrawn.
