Kianna Underwood died at 33 after a January 16, 2026 hit-and-run in Brooklyn. Later reporting added an important development: police announced an arrest in September.
AP’s September account, carried by NBC New York, identifies Michael Griffiths as the man charged in connection with her death. The original January status should not remain on the page as though no later announcement had occurred.
The crash and later charge
According to the police account reported by AP, Underwood was struck by an SUV while crossing an intersection in Brownsville, then by a second vehicle while she was in the road. Both drivers left the scene. She was pronounced dead there.
The September arrest and charge are not a conviction. This article does not claim a final court outcome or identify a second driver without a supported record.
Her work on screen
Underwood appeared in seven episodes of All That in 2005 and voiced Fuschia Glover in Little Bill. Those credits are a clearer foundation for remembering her work than describing an invented childhood career path.
The earlier version included an unsupported account of local theatre, an agent and a family relocation. Those details have been removed. A memorial does not need fictional biography, private-health speculation or sweeping claims about how every former colleague reacted.
Remember the person without sensationalism
The circumstances of a violent death can attract intense attention. Graphic repetition and speculation about a person’s final thoughts add little to a reliable account.
