Gold and Silver Prices in India: Compare the Quote and Final Bill

Gold and Silver Price Today in India: Latest Rates and City-wise Prices

A gold or silver quote is incomplete without its purity, unit, date and included charges. A number labelled “today” can quickly become stale, while a benchmark and a jeweller’s final bill answer different questions.

This page is a comparison guide, not a live rate feed or a city-by-city retail price table. Obtain a fresh quote for the product and place where you intend to buy.

Match the unit and purity

A per-gram price cannot be compared directly with a per-ten-gram or per-kilogram figure. Gold and silver are also quoted at different fineness levels. Identify those details before deciding one offer is cheaper.

The IBJA rate page labels benchmark sessions and units, and notes that its quoted rates exclude GST and making charges. Read the current page rather than copying a figure without its context.

Ask for an itemised final price

For jewellery, confirm the net metal weight, purity, making charges, applicable taxes and any other components. A stone-set piece may include material that should not be priced as precious-metal weight. Ask the seller to explain how the total was calculated.

The BIS jeweller guidance identifies invoice details for hallmarked articles. Keep the invoice and relevant product identification. Hallmarking concerns purity; it does not guarantee resale profit.

Treat city comparisons carefully

Two sellers may quote different products, charges or times. A headline city rate is not automatically the amount every shop in that city charges. Request comparable written quotes before drawing a conclusion.

Our silver quote guide focuses on that metal’s units and product forms. The silver market-claim guide separates a reported price from an explanation or forecast.

Keep purchase and investment questions separate

A gift or wearable item has a different purpose from an investment product. Consider resale terms, costs and access to funds rather than assume a higher market quote guarantees a gain after charges.

Our long-term financial planning guide discusses goals and risk in general terms. No rate on this page is an instruction to buy or sell. A useful comparison makes the total understandable before money changes hands.
