Delivery availability can differ by neighbourhood, restaurant and time. A few reports of quick service do not establish that an entire New Year’s Eve was unusually quiet across the country.
There is also a date problem: December 31, 2026 is still a future event at the time of this October update. It cannot be described as a completed evening with measured results. The night entering 2026 was December 31, 2025.
Treat the estimate as an estimate
An app’s displayed time may change as a restaurant accepts an order, prepares food or waits for a rider. Availability at one stage is not a guarantee of delivery at the original minute.
Read cancellation, substitution and support terms before placing a large time-sensitive order. A low displayed fee does not establish that demand is low everywhere.
Evidence for a wider claim
To compare holiday performance, a report would need defined locations, periods and measures such as completed orders or delivery times. Selected social posts are not a representative national dataset.
Our delivery-delay backup guide addresses what a household can do without pretending to have that dataset.
Plan the meal as well as the order
Have a simple alternative if timing matters, and check dietary requirements before ordering for a group. The FDA takeout guidance explains why food needs safe handling after arrival.
The game-day hosting guide applies the same planning approach to another event. A practical delivery article can help people make a decision without announcing a national crisis or a nationwide success from incomplete evidence.
