The trade announcements ahead of IPL 2026 confirmed three linked moves: Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings, with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran joining Rajasthan Royals. These were completed player trades announced before the season, not merely transfer rumours.
The official IPL trade update supplies the names, destinations and stated league fees. It is the right starting point before discussing tactical consequences.
What the announcement established
Samson moved to CSK at a league fee of ₹18 crore. Jadeja moved to Rajasthan with his fee revised to ₹14 crore from ₹18 crore. Curran joined Rajasthan at ₹2.4 crore. These figures describe the announced league fees, not every private commercial term or a franchise valuation.
Rajasthan also published its announcement on 15 November 2025. A dated team statement is more useful than an unsourced claim about why each player privately wanted a move.
Personnel changes create questions, not guarantees
A new wicketkeeper-batter or all-rounder can change selection options, but the actual role depends on the full squad, availability and match conditions. A trade cannot guarantee a particular batting position or a complete bowling allocation.

Leadership needs a separate source

This distinction prevents an otherwise accurate transfer story from developing unsupported claims about a team’s hierarchy.
Evaluate the move over a defined period
To assess the sporting effect, choose the relevant season and compare opportunities, roles and contributions. A highlight or disappointing match is not a complete return on the transaction. Avoid presenting a fan preference as a settled financial valuation.
