Mario Rodriguez and Tyler Perry: The Lawsuit, Denial and Procedural Record

Mario Rodriguez vs. Tyler Perry: What’s Behind the $77 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit?

Mario Rodriguez brought a civil lawsuit alleging sexual misconduct by Tyler Perry and seeking at least $77 million. Perry’s lawyer denied the allegations. AP’s December 2025 report records both positions and identifies Lionsgate as another defendant.

The allegation, the response and the amount requested should be presented together. A damages demand is not money awarded by a court.

What the claim concerns

Rodriguez appeared in the 2016 film Boo! A Madea Halloween. His complaint alleged unwanted sexual advances and sexual assault over several years. Those assertions remain attributed to the complaint here; this article does not establish their truth independently.

Perry’s denial is part of the reporting record. Neither a denial nor the filing of a complaint is itself a judicial resolution of disputed facts.

A later procedural milestone

A March 10, 2026 federal court order records an initial filing date of December 26, 2025, and removal to federal court on February 27, 2026. Some initial news accounts described a Thursday filing; this article uses the later court order for the procedural date.

The order asked the defendants to address federal subject-matter jurisdiction. That is a question about the court’s authority to hear the action, not a finding that either side had proved its account of the alleged conduct.

What remains outside this account

This is a dated reference to the complaint, response and identified procedural order. It does not certify the present docket status, predict a trial result or claim that related allegations in a separate case prove this one.

The companion coverage guide explains why online reactions are not evidence of liability. Our Epstein procedural reference addresses the same distinction in a different legal history. In each case, readers should be able to see what was alleged, what was denied and what a court actually decided.
